- Alyssa Mosley won the lottery post-pandemic in an anonymous state.
- Since then, she has been posting “A Day In My Life” videos on her social media, giving followers a glimpse into her new world.
- Rather than chasing shiny new things, Mosley has been investing in her mental and physical well-being, choosing to prioritize her needs and spend her money on meaningful experiences.
Living in New York City in your 20s can get pricey, with rising rent, food and transportation costs — not to mention the constant temptation to try something fun or buy something new.
For one young woman who recently won the lottery, the fancy clothes, bags and shoes are nothing compared to the security and confidence she gained since hitting the jackpot.
After calling off her engagement, Alyssa Mosley is using her money wisely, choosing her friends and relationships carefully and learning how to love and nurture her passions.

“I think it’s sort of been spiritual, the things that I’ve learned about money and fulfillment,” Mosley tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Obviously, money helps to solve problems…but it is not going to make your life 1,000 percent perfect and make every single day an amazing day.”
Before winning the lottery post-pandemic, Mosley worked hard and still knows the value of money. “I’ve had different working experiences and I’ve been able to understand what it’s like before that and after that,” she says. “So I feel grateful to kind of have that grounding and understanding.”
While Mosley chose not to share the exact amount she won, she revealed that buying the ticket in an anonymous state was a spontaneous decision. At first, she wasn’t sure about going public, but after a friend pointed out how rare her story was, she chose to share it.
Mosley currently has over 31K followers on TikTok, where she often posts “Day In My Life” videos as someone who won the lottery.
“I wake up every day and I thank God for everything that I have,” she admits. “I find that the more grateful I am for the things that I have, it closes that gap of ‘wanting,’ – always wanting something new – so if I do spend money, I try to do it on hobbies, experiences rather than just physical material things.”

The fashion lover feels grateful to now have the freedom to explore her passions and chase her dreams — something that’s often out of reach when you’re tied to a 9-5 job or overwhelmed by bills.
“I used to sew when I was younger and I feel really blessed that I’m able to get back into it again and make different garments,” Mosley reveals. Before coming into her fortune, she worked in the corporate world of fashion — but now, she’s free to explore its more creative aspects.
“Making clothing, knitting, water coloring, painting,” she lists. “Those kinds of activities that brought me a lot of joy when I was younger. But I didn’t have time for them as I got older because I have to work.”

With more time on her hands, Mosley is also embracing her athletic side by taking the time to stay active.

“I did competitive cheerleading, but I think when I started really working – you know 40 hours a week, 50 hours a week – I didn’t have the energy to do it,” she reveals. “But now I feel happy that I’m able to make time for that, block that out, and make it a priority to run.”
After recently completing her first 5K, Mosley is now training with hopes of running a half marathon — and eventually, a full marathon. “I feel very blessed and lucky that I’m able to put my health first,” she adds.

Alongside focusing on her physical well-being, Mosley is also taking a closer look at the people and habits that impact her peace of mind.
“It’s funny because before all of this happened, I actually experienced a lot of friendship fallout and relationship fallouts with people, and at the time, it was with people that I have been friends with for a while,” Mosley explains. “Then I won the lottery and I’m realizing in hindsight now that it was a blessing that those people left my life before I came into that abundance.”

Letting go of what no longer served her, Mosley walked away from several relationships, including her engagement. Though she deeply respected her ex-fiancé, the lottery winner realized that marriage might not be the right path for her — at least for now.
“I also think that my view of marriage has really changed as a young woman who is able to provide financially for herself,” she says. “You know, sometimes we find ourselves in marriages because it provides stability … but I just felt that I am not ready to have a family, settle down, and I’m not in a place where I need to.”
On TikTok, Mosley explained that she called off her engagement three days before she was set to elope in Las Vegas. In one of her videos, she called marriage a “trap meant to keep people miserable.” Still in her 20s, she values her independence and isn’t in a rush to settle into a life that doesn’t feel right for her.

“I’m reading a book called Women Who Run with the Wolves and it basically kind of touches on the history of marriage, and you know it wasn’t really based on love,” she says. “That’s a pretty new phenomenon – basing a marriage on love – probably the past hundred years. But it was more so about assets…and about protecting those things.”
With her newfound fortune, Mosley is cautious about the legal and financial implications of marriage. “Being in a relationship is great, being in love is great,” she admits. “But I think when you start involving the legal system, that’s a part I don’t think I need to do because I’m okay in those regards.”
Looking ahead, Mosley intends to stay grounded through reflection and journaling, surround herself with the right people, and focus on living well without overspending. “I feel lucky that the people around me in my life are people that would never ask for things,” she says. “They’re just supportive of me and happy to see me thriving and successful.”
